Event - Announcement - 27th October 2021

The Road to Recovery Edition of the 2021 Accra Open will see the resumption of sectors of the economy and the world would have eventually eased after many successful adoptions to the new protocols. The pandemic season has seen competitive golf transform leading with digital inclusion and dynamism.

This year’s event promises to set the tone for the recovery of the entire nation and the emphasis on the confidence of business relation in a well curated space transformed to present a world class event. The Competitions Committee of the Accra Open will announce the official date of the 2021 edition of The Accra Open on the 27th of October for the members of Achimota Golf club and the media in a brief press launch at Achimota Golf Club.

Eligibility

Amateurs

Eligibility to play The Accra Open shall be based on the following handicap qualification:

Men Group A Handicap Allowance – Strictly 12 and below
Men Support Group Handicap Allowance – Strictly 13 – 18
Ladies Handicap Allowance – Strictly 20 and below
Ladies Support Group Handicap Allowance – Strictly 21 – 30

Professionals

Professional Golfers shall play a 4-day tournament from 18th – 21st November, 2021.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to cut off for the Professionals after 36 holes. The prize purse will be communicated to the Pros before registration is open for entries. Entries for the Professional tournament shall end on 10th November 2021Web link for registration will be provided for all interested golfers to register.

Ties

  • In the event of a TIE for the first place, a count back rule will be applied.
    1. The best score of the eighteen (18) holes (1-18) of the round.
      b. If still a tie, the best score of the last nine (9) holes (10-18) of the final round.
      c. If still a tie, the best score of the last six (6) holes (13-18) of the final round.
      d. If still a tie, the best score of the last three (3) holes (16-18) of the final round.

Tournament Conditions

  1. Punctuality/Starting Time – A player should report to the starter on the 1st tee, 10 minutes before the allocated starting time.
  2. Undue Delay/Slow Play – Players must play without undue delay. Rule 6-7 applies
    1. Penalty: First Offense One stroke
    2. Second Offense Two Strokes
    3. Third Offense Disqualification

If the Competition Committee decides that the course is unplayable for any justifiable reason, the competition will be determined on as many completed rounds of nine (9) Holes as possible.
